DOC SPAN
Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, the young Doc entertained Dutch sailors at his Grandmothers saloon on the New York waterfront, playing the accordion. In the sixties he made Chicago his home and learned the harmonica at Blues Clubs like the Checkerboard Lounge and Ma Beas on the Westside, while working as a paramedic at the notorious Cook County Jail. After a stint in the Navy, in 1972 Doc hitchhiked through 12 Latin American countries jamming with the locals.

Forming his own band, Two Fisted Blues, he made Santa Fe (New Mexico) his base for touring the Rockies to Alaska, playing hundreds of gigs at Rocky Mountain ski resorts. He also led a trail crew, in the summers on the continental divide and played with the Summertime Blues Band at the Dew Drop Inn in Hungary Horse. Doc arrived in Australia in 1987 via a route filled with adventures. Here he has played with Oz blues luminaries like Andy Cowan, James T, Fiona Boyes, Ross Williams, Jan Preston, and Kevin Borich. He's played most major music festivals across Australia, thousands of live performances and dozens of recording sessions.
Doc has featured on many albums and released a few of his own, including the Sunnie Award winning acoustic blues CD, The Last Train, with Ross Williams. Two of his latest recording ventures with Matthew Cang— Something for the Pain (formerly released as Spantronics), and The Treatment - are very exciting projects that he considers a musical continuum of his love of the blues. Evocative, visual lyrics combined with a modern groove create poetic soundscapes with gritty blues guitar and wailing harmonica. Doc's other recordings include: The Last Train, From the Underground, Blues Appetite and Live at KC's. His website is: www.docspan.net

DARCY PERRY BAND
Darcy Perry (guitar, vocals) is an entertainer with a deep understanding of the blues. He's played with some of the world's best and it shows, both in his rich guitar tone and electrifying stage presence. With harmonica ace Craig Bracken and Simen ‘Bluekeys' Taylor (piano), one could best describe this band as a triple threat. Hailed as New Zealand's premier blues band, in 2006 their release ‘Heavy Rain' entered the national album charts, a feat that hadn't been achieved since Midge Marsden's ‘Burning Rain' in 1991. Midge has also recognised Darcy's talent, calling him the future of the blues.

With a blues career that started in the early 90's as bass player for Bullfrog Rata, Darcy started his own band in 2002 after the release of ‘Blues 4 Dad' (dedicated to his father Ross). Performing in pubs, clubs and venues around the country, they soon established themselves on the underground blues scene as a force to be reckoned with. In October 2002 they made their first television appearance, playing live on the Good Morning Show. A legendary performance at the Montana National Jazz Festival (Tauranga, 2003) brought attention to the wider blues community and the award winning album ‘Don't Hold Back' (released in 2004) garnered righteous acclaim from critics and roots music fans alike. The band now headline shows and festivals all over the country, as well as supporting and touring with visiting international artists (Rod Piazza, Watermelon Slim, Lightning Red, Doc Span).
